Mavericks Beach Club Restaurant, Bar & Nightclub Rises In Former Pacific Beach Bar & Grill Footprint

December 6, 2017

Scheduled to open in early 2018 is Mavericks Beach Club, a gigantic new nightclub, bar and restaurant from San Diego's ever-expanding Verant Group that is currently being erected in the space long occupied by Pacific Beach Bar & Grill.

Eric Lingenfelder and Mark Cirillo of the Verant Group and David Cohen (formerly of West Coast Tavern and co-owner of Uptown Tavern) purchased the former PB Bar & Grill in Spring 2015 and tore down the building for a top-to-bottom remodel to create what will soon open as Mavericks Beach Club. Responsible for developing and successfully managing many popular San Diego establishments such as barleymash, Sandbar, Tavern at the Beach, West Coast Tavern, Uptown Tavern, True North, and, most recently, The Smoking Gun, Verant team members have proven successful in creating inviting San Diego spaces that are well received by locals and visitors alike.

With the design and architecture headed by Bluemotif Architecture, which helped put restaurants such as Queensborough, The Crack Shack, Juniper & Ivy, and Kettner Exchange on the map of San Diego hotspots, Maverick's will offer two levels of dining and drinking space with four bars and expansive al fresco seating in an open-air environment. The back building where Club Tremors once sat will continue to operate as a nightclub on the weekends and is the only structure that was not torn down during the rebuild. Expect more than 15,000 square feet of space offering outdoor games, fire pits, flat screen televisions, and plenty of eclectic seating options within a modern and beachy ambiance.

Verant Group Corporate Executive Chef Kevin Templeton will likely be tasked with creating the food menu for Mavericks, which has been described as "Rubio's on steroids." Expect an approachable list of tacos, burgers, sandwiches, small plates and entree portions utilizing fresh and sustainable ingredients to be complemented by a lengthy list of San Diego craft brews, ciders, Meades, kombuchas, California wines, and a custom cocktail menu that will possibly be created by renowned local mixologist Eric Johnson.

Mavericks Beach Club is expected to open at 860 Garnet Avenue in San Diego's Pacific Beach by February 2018 and is currently hiring for all positions. For more information, visit maverickssd.com and check out some more digital architectural drawings below.
