Los Angeles' Absolution Brewing Company Heading Into Former La Jolla Brewing Space

January 22, 2018

Moving into the space that was left dormant after La Jolla Brewing Company's sudden closure late last year is an offshoot brewpub and restaurant by Los Angeles-based Absolution Brewing Company, set to debut as early as this weekend.

Absolution Brewing Company initially considered opening in San Diego until finally deciding to headquarter in the more-underserved market of Torrance, Los Angeles. Owned by Nigel Heath and San Diego native Steve Farguson - Absolution Brewing Company began in 2014 with a resume of American & English-style beers brewed with old-world techniques. The company boasts that their "farm to glass" artisan beers are additive free, produced with natural ingredients and are made using organic produce in partnership with Tapi Farms in North Los Angeles.

Absolution By The Sea will be a brewery, tasting room and restaurant located in the heart of San Diego's La Jolla neighborhood. The space that housed La Jolla Brewing Company from 2013 until the company shuttered last year will be transformed to incorporate Absolution's religous-themed marketing, including the addition of pews for seating. The brewpub will offer an array of Absolution's nearly 20 different beer varieties, as well as a food menu designed by Head Chef Mike Wilson, who previously worked as Chef de Cuisine at Las Brisas restaurant in Laguna Beach. Expect a menu of elevated pub fare with Mexican and American influences.

Absolution By The Sea is anticipated to open at 7536 Fay Avenue in La Jolla as early as this Friday, January 26. For more information, visit absolutionbrewingcompany.com.
