MasterChef Runner Up Nick Nappi Leaves Little Italy's Bar One

March 1, 2018

A finalist on season 6 of Fox's hit primetime home cook competition MasterChef, Nick Nappi has announced that he has left his position as Executive Chef of Bar One Drinks & Links in San Diego's Little Italy.

"Ladies and Germs, I’m sorry it’s taken this long to address the rumors but it’s true, I’ve bid farewell to Bar One," Nappi said on a Facebook post. "My time with the restaurant and the Barone family was amazing to say the least."

A former dishwasher salesman, Nappi came in 4th place on the sixth season of Fox's hit MasterChef, which ultimately concluded with another San Diegan, Claudia Sandoval, taking home the title. Nappi, who had previously helmed the kitchen of downtown's Werewolf, teamed up with local developer Jim Barone for the opening of Bar One at the base floor of Barone's building at 1532 India Street in Little Italy in the space previously occupied by Salon 1532. Bar One opened in July 2016. Taking over in the kitchen at Bar One is Nappi's "right hand man" Miguel Ortiz.
