San Diego's PrepKitchen Restaurant Is Opening In San Marcos Replacing Stella Public House

March 5, 2018

Late last year, we announced that San Diego's brand of PrepKitchen restaurants was purchased from Whisknladle Hospitality by a Las Vegas husband-and-wife duo. The new owners are eager to expand and have targetted North County's new North City mixed use development for the next branch of the expanding dining concept.

The PrepKitchen brand has been a mainstay in San Diego’s gastronomic arena since its inception in 2009 with the launch of the La Jolla storefront, followed by locations in Del Mar in 2010, and a larger site in Little Italy that debuted in 2012. The farm-to-table chain of restaurnats is now owned by David and Deborah Krause of Las Vegas' A5 Group, a hospitality management and marketing and advertising firm. The couple plan to keep the concept as-is and open more locations around California and Las Vegas. Deborah Krause is the former Chief Operating Officer of Pure Management Group of Las Vegas, a $100M hospitality group, while David Krause was its former Chief Marketing Officer.

"As we continue to develop and expand the PrepKitchen brand, we are thrilled to be able to serve San Marcos," commented Deborah Krause. "We see great potential to grow alongside such a promising community that’s proving itself to be an up and coming destination within San Diego County."

As a first step in the PrepKitchen expansion, the company will install a 3,000 square-foot outpost in San Marcos as part of Block C at the new North City mixed use residential and retail development. PrepKitchen will move into the space that last housed the short lived Stella Public House and Halcyon Coffee Bar & Lounge and offer a California American menu with dishes prepared with fresh local ingredients. The restaurant will offer both indoor and outdoor seating and a full bar. The Krause's intend to continue expanding the PrepKitchen concept throughout San Diego and beyond.

North City is a developing 204-acre mixed-use walkable neighborhood in North County San Diego.
Block C features 197 residential studios, one and two bedroom apartments and three bedroom townhouses all overlooking North City Plaza, an open-air walking, dining and gathering space.
