Chicago-based Aloha Poke Co. is opening a nearly-waterfront location in San Diego, moving into a newly constructed retail building adjacent to Ocean Front Walk in Pacific Beach.
Founded within Chicago’s French Market in February 2016 by owner Zach Friedlander, Aloha Poke Co. now has nearly 10 locations in development around Chicago with expansion plans that include branches throughout the country. The budding fast-casual chain offers a menu centered around custom bowls filled with fresh ingredients like line-caught ahi tuna, farm-raised Atlantic salmon, tofu, fruits and vegetables. The brand celebrates poke’s Hawaiian roots with design elements like swaying hula girl statues, neon colors, and hanging palms. Based on the success of this first San Diego location, more outposts may be in development in the near future.
