The Good, The Bad, and The Donkey (Thursday, December 11, 6pm) - Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School brings a heartwarming, family-friendly musical nativity to the Balboa Theatre. This playful production follows Bsal the Donkey, the Angels determined to protect the Nativity, and the mischievous Devils plotting to derail it - until a little heavenly “espionage” turns the tide. A sweet, funny holiday show perfect for kids and families, this cheerful performance continues the school’s tradition of charming seasonal musicals.

Coastal Christmas Holiday Light Spectacular Del Mar (December 12-26, 4-9pm) - Experience a magical holiday at the Del Mar Fairgrounds with a dazzling light display, eco-friendly skating rink, Holiday Market, Frosty’s Fun Zone, free Santa photos, festive lounges, and seasonal treats.

Poway's Christmas in the Park (Friday, December 12, 3:30-8:30pm, and Saturday, December 13, 3:30-8:30pm) - Old Poway Park hosts an old-fashioned Christmas celebration with Santa visits, live music, theater performances, crafts, and treats. Admission is free, with shuttle service available from local parking lots.

Christmas in Valley Center (Friday, December 12, 4-8pm & Saturday December 13, 9 am-3 pm) Head to Bates Nut Farm to join in for Santa's arrival by fire truck, a Polar Express hayride, and festive fun including free crafts, bounce houses, inflatable slides, and more. Enjoy food vendors, holiday treats, and special activities like free pony rides. 

Santa’s Sleigh Ride Parade (Friday, December 12, 2:30–5pm) - Santa cruises through Solana Beach aboard a festive sleigh escorted by fire, sheriff, and marine safety crews. The route begins and ends at the Solana Beach Fire Station. Free to attend.
Hasan Hates Ronny | Ronny Hates Hasan (Friday, December 12 at 7pm & 9:30pm; Saturday, December 13 at 4pm & 7pm; Sunday, December 14 at 4pm) - Comedians Hasan Minhaj and Ronny Chieng bring their chaotic, no-holds-barred showdown to Jacobs Music Center with a satirical “debate to the death” that promises absolutely zero diplomacy and maximum pettiness. Love Thy Neighborhood Joy Drive (December 12-14) - The Joy Drive expands the OB Holiday Food and Toy Drive, spreading holiday spirit across the Ocean Beach community. Golden State Ballet’s The Nutcracker at the San Diego Civic Theatre (December 12-21) - Golden State Ballet presents San Diego’s most lavish Nutcracker tradition, complete with a full orchestra, grand sets, and classical choreography performed by a world-class cast. The Civic Theatre becomes a winter dreamscape filled with swirling snowflakes, waltzing flowers, and Tchaikovsky’s timeless score — a must-see for families and ballet fans alike.
Red Nose Run (Saturday, December 13, 12pm) – A festive 3K/5K run or walk at Del Mar Beach benefiting the Semper Fi & America’s Fund and the San Dieguito River Park. Registration includes food from Poseidon, beer from Viewpoint, ice cream, and live music.

Meet the Brass: ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas (Saturday, December 13, 10am and 11:30am) - The San Diego Symphony’s brass quintet brings holiday magic to Jacobs Music Center with a 30-minute, sensory-friendly concert perfect for little ones and families. Pacific Beach Holiday Parade (Saturday, December 13, 1-3pm) - Celebrate the holidays in Pacific Beach with a parade featuring marching bands, local community groups, floats, businesses and dancing groups.  The parade route is on Garnet Ave from Haines to Bayard Streets. Free to watch.

Oceanside Harbor Parade of Lights (Saturday, December 13, 7-9pm) - Fishing boats, yachts, and kayaks dressed in holiday lights parade through Oceanside Harbor. Best viewing areas are near the fishing dock and police station. Free to watch.
San Diego SantaCon Festival (Saturday, December 13) - San Diego’s biggest Christmas-themed festival is back to do a complete take over of Belmont Park, transforming the historic Mission Beach amusement park into a massive Winter Wonderland filled with live music,  including headliner Soulja Boy, thrill rides, and thousands of Santas spreading cheer (and maybe a little mischief). Santa Run (Saturday, December 13, 8am & 10am) - Don your best Santa suit and join thousands of other St. Nicks in Pacific Beach at this fun 5k run along the coast, complete with festive activities. Pre-registration is required.

Mission Bay Christmas Boat Parade of Lights (December 13, 5:30pm) - Organized by the Mission Bay Yacht Club for decades, this dazzling event showcases a spectacular display of creativity and holiday spirit as boats adorned with brilliant lights glide across the sparkling waters of Mission Bay. Many area hotels and properties also offer fun actives during the event and SeaWorld holds a spectacular fireworks display that same night. 

La Mesa's Holiday in the Village (Saturday, December 13, 12-9pm) - Downtown La Mesa transforms into a Victorian wonderland with live music, craft vendors, fire pits, photos with Santa, and synthetic ice skating. Free to attend.

Toys for Joy (Saturday, December 13) - Southwest High School hosts the 29th annual Toys for Joy event, providing free toys, groceries, and more to families in need. Volunteers and donations help bring holiday cheer to thousands.
Gaslamp Pet Parade & Pups in the Pub Party (Saturday, December 13, 11am-4pm) - Adorable pets dressed in holiday attire parade through the Gaslamp Quarter, with photo ops, vendors, and games. After the parade, head to Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter for a festive pup-friendly party. Parade registration: $30 in advance and $40 day of.

Home Alone in Concert (Saturday, December 13, 6pm) - One of the most popular holiday films of all time comes to life at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. The San Diego Symphony Orchestra and the San Diego Master Chorale will perform John Williams’ iconic score live to picture as the Christmas classic plays on the big screen. Follow 8-year-old Kevin McCallister’s unforgettable holiday adventure - equal parts hilarious and heartwarming - in this festive, family-friendly event under the stars.

SDGMC Presents JINGLE: 40 Years of Holiday Cheer (Saturday, December 13 at 7pm & Sunday, December 14 at 3pm) - The San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus marks an incredible milestone at the Balboa Theatre with its 40th annual holiday celebration. Audiences will enjoy Old Scrooge, Seymour Hicks’s classic adaptation of A Christmas Carol, alongside Charlie Chaplin’s beloved short A Dog’s Life, featuring the Tramp and his loyal canine companion, Scraps. NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet (Tuesday, December 16, 7pm) - The holiday tradition returns to Jacobs Music Center. Vista Cowboy Christmas (Friday, December 19, 5-9pm) - Discover Vista will be hosting its very first Cowboy Christmas event, featuring line dancing, bull riding, county BBQ, live country music, and more. So put on your best boots, grab your honey, and mosey on down to Downtown Vista. 

Candlelight: Christmas Carols on Strings at Star Theatre (Friday, December 19, 6:30pm & 9pm) - The Star Theatre in Oceanside transforms into an intimate glow of candlelight for this atmospheric holiday concert performed by a live string quartet. The ensemble reimagines classics like “O Holy Night,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” and “Joy to the World” in sweeping instrumental arrangements. San Diego Symphony's Noel Noel Concert (December 19-21 7:30pm) - Experience the San Diego Symphony's holiday tradition, Noel Noel, inside at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. An Irish Christmas (Sunday, December 21 at 2:30pm) - The holiday production returns to the Balboa Theatre with a joyous celebration of Irish music, dance, and tradition. As seen on PBS, An Irish Christmas blends classic holiday carols with breathtaking choreography performed by award-winning dancers from Riverdance, Lord of the Dance, and Celtic Wings.

Wild Horses Festival at Petco Park (Saturday, December 27) - Petco Park will close out the year with a huge night of live music as Mumford & Sons headline the Wild Horses Festival in downtown San Diego. Christmas Light Displays - There are several San Diego neighborhoods that go all-out for the holiday season. Plan a visit to one or more of the following to see homes that even Clark Griswold would envy:
  • Candy Cane Lane (Poway) - A North Pole-themed cul-de-sac with homes featuring over 50,000 lights each. Location: Hickory Court and nearby streets. 
  • Christmas Card Lane (Rancho Penasquitos) - Homes along Ellingham, Renato and Oviedo Streets feature giant illuminated Christmas cards and elaborate light displays. 
  • Belardo Lights (Tierrasanta) - A single home offers an incredible light show synced to music (tune into FM 106.1). Location: 5306 North Belardo Drive.
  • Christmas Circle (Chula Vista) Heat to Whitney and Mankato Streets in San Diego's South Bay city of Chula Vista for a neighborhood light display. 
  • Garrison Street (Point Loma) - Walk or drive through this upscale neighborhood where homes are densely decorated with colorful lights. Location: Garrison Street near Chatsworth.
  • Christmas Park (Clairemont) - Location: Lana Drive and Jamar Drive. 
  • Merry-tage Court (Scripps Ranch) - Location: Merritage Court and Stonebridge Parkway. 
  • Fairway Village (Carmel Mountain Ranch) - Location: Stoney Gate Place. 
  • Forward House( Bankers Hill) - Location: 108 Ivy Street.
