Junior League Of San Diego Food & Wine Festival Returns To La Jolla Cove With Kentucky Derby-Theme On Saturday, May 5

April 25, 2018

Get your seersucker suits and fancy hats ready! On Saturday, May 5, the Junior League of San Diego will welcome 1,200 guests to its 18th annual Food & Wine Festival at the picturesque La Jolla Cove, offering attendees the ultimate culinary experience with tastes and sips from local restaurant and beverage purveyors, as well as live music and a festival party with televised viewing of the 144th Kentucky Derby.

"The Food & Wine Festival is one of the rare opportunities of the year to experience the beauty of La Jolla Cove at an event setting like this," said Rachel Thompson, president of the Junior League of San Diego. "And what better way to give back to our community, than by sampling our region’s best food and cheering on your favorite horse?"

The Junior League of San Diego’s annual Food & Wine Festival is the charity's biggest fundraising event of the year and a must-attend event for San Diego. The festival experience will feature more than 50 of San Diego’s finest vendors, including We Olive, Viewpoint Brewing, Truluck's Seafood, The Oceanaire Seafood Room, Quady Winery, True Food Kitchen, Fallbrook Winery, Farmer & the Seahorse, La Valencia, and many more.

With the Kentucky Derby theme, attendees are encouraged to don their favorite derby hat and dress to impress as they watch a live viewing of the 144th annual Kentucky Derby. Festivities commence at noon and continue until 5pm at Ellen Scripps Browning Park at La Jolla Cove, with the chance to win great prizes through the silent auction and raffles. After the event, guests can join an exclusive after-party at the La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla, which is within walking distance of the Food and Wine Festival.

Ticket prices start at $85, with a valet parking option also available for purchase. The ticket cost includes unlimited tastings of exquisite bites, flavorful wines, handcrafted cocktails and craft beers. Exclusive VIP tickets will also include a VIP-only lounge, VIP gift bag and access to exclusive premier vendors. This must-attend event raises funds critical for Junior League of San Diego's mission-based programs that support transition-aged foster youth and train charity members to become leaders in the San Diego community.

The Junior League of San Diego, Inc. is part of an international organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.  Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.  The Junior League reaches out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in, and commitment to, volunteerism.
