New Restaurant Charles + Dinorah Debuts At The Pearl Hotel In Point Loma

April 5, 2018

The 23-room, boutique Pearl Hotel in Point Loma sold late last year to new owners who have begun refurbishing the property, including the addition of newly rebranded poolside restaurant Charles + Dinorah.

The Pearl Hotel is a boutique hotel and Point Loma landmark with a rich history in the community. Formerly Eat at The Pearl, the hotel's onsite restaurant has been transformed into Charles + Dinorah, which pays tribute to the original owners of the mid-century property - Charles and Dinorah Gehring - who cared for it from the 1960s through 2006.

The new restaurant will be helmed by Executive Chef Andrew Santana, who was previously chef de cuisine at Campfire in Carlsbad. Santana has crafted an ambitious menu of shareable dishes prepared with a globally inspired range of seasonal ingredients. For dinner, expect starters like roasted fennel and beet with honey curd, puffed quinoa and smoked almonds. Another highlight is the "Charr"tare fresh tuna with black garlic, allium dust and grilled Wayfarer Bakery bread. For entrees, the cioppino is a standout - a seafood stew made with mussels, scallops, white fish and soft shell crab. Charles + Dinorah will also offer an array of kushiyaki - skewered grill meats served with house ponzu sauce. The restaurant will also have a full bar with cocktails, craft beer and a curated selection of wines.

Charles + Dinorah is now open and will offer dinner Monday through Saturday with brunch service on the weekends. For more information, visit thepearlsd.com and check out the dinner and brunch menus below.
