To Celebrate 25th Anniversary Of Demolition Man Movie, Taco Bell Will Host Upscale Pop-Up At Comic-Con International San Diego

July 2, 2018

Starring Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes, Demolition Man celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and to honor the occassion, attendees of San Diego Comic-Con will be treated to a movie-themed replication of the dystopian future where Taco Bell is the only restaurant that survives.

Demolition Man is a 1993 sci-fi movie that starred Sylvester Stallone as a policeman that is brought back from a deep freeze in the year 2032 to take down Wesley Snipes' villainous character, but there is one specific culinary-themed scene in the film that really stood out - a future where Taco Bell was the only restaurant to survive the "franchise wars". In the film, the restaurant is even considered the highest form of fine dining.

During Comic-Con International, taking place from Thursday, July 19 to Sunday, July 22, Taco Bell will offer a Demolition Man-themed pop-up with a futuristic and upscale Taco Bell dining experience near the San Diego Convention Center. Taking place at Greystone Steak & Seafood in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter from 6pm-12am nightly, people are invited to stop by for complimentary food, with no badge required. There will also be exclusive Taco Bell and Demolition Man merchandise available for purchase. Although really just a promotional event to market the return of Nacho Fries (seasoned fries served with nacho dipping sauce), the pop-up sounds like a cool installation that will likely be very popular with Comic-Con attendees and San Diegans alike.

Upscale Taco Bells aren't just a fictional future. Taco Bell has recently introduced its new, modern Cantina concept. Aimed to reach the tech-driven Millenial generation, the new Taco Bell Cantina restaurants offer a modern design, easy ordering via a mobile app, digital menu boards, large flat screen televisions, eclectic seating areas, outlets equipped with USB ports, and alcoholic drinks. A Taco Bell Cantina is heading into San Diego's Outlets at the Border in San Ysidro later this year.

The Taco Bell Demolition Man Pop-Up will take place at 658 Fifth Avenue in San Diego's Gaslamp.
