Gordon Ramsay's Former VP Of Restaurants Linked To New Downtown Hotel & Restaurant | The Guild Hotel & Luca Restaurant Anticipated To Debut In 2019

September 28 2018

We announced earlier this year that The Guild Hotel would soon install in the historic 1920s-era building that once housed the downtown San Diego YMCA for nearly a century. We have learned that the General Manager tasked to oversee the 168-room luxury hotel from Starwood Hotels & Resorts', including the onsite restaurant tentatively named Luca, is a former VP of Restaurants for Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay.

Now anticipated to open in early 2019, The Guild Hotel will be an upscale hotel that is being installed in the iconic YMCA building in the center of downtown San Diego. The 168-room resort will preserve the building’s historic facade that is adorned with modern art, as well as reimagine the former gymnasium into a decadent ballroom with an adjacent gardens for events. Part of Marriott-owned Starwood Hotels new line of luxury accommodations - Tribute Portfolio - The Guild will be independently operated by Oram Properties, a local hospitality investment and management company that includes such hotels as Cardiff by the Sea Hotel and Four Points by Sheraton on its portfolio. Managing the property will be Azul Hospitality (The Nolen), a San Diego-based management firm that oversees various resorts and restaurants around the country.

Azul Hospitality has tasked former Vice President of U.S. Operations for Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, Steven Adyani, to manage the hotel, including The Guild Hotel's onsite three-meal restaurant, currently dubbed Luca. Although still in development and in search of an Executive Chef, Luca Bar, Kitchen & Outdoor Courtyard is expected to serve an array of Spanish tapas as well as a full bar with an ambitious bar program featuring craft cocktails, an extensive wine list, and local and macrobrewed beers. More details on food and beverage options will be released once finalized.

Adyani is an accomplished hotelier and restaurateur, known for leading celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay's US operations and for his work for Steve Wynn Resorts in Las Vegas. As Vice President of Operations for Chef Ramsay, Adyani designed and opened the highly anticipated Hell's Kitchen Restaurant in Las Vegas, Gordon Ramsay Burger in Las Vegas, Gordon Ramsay Steak in Baltimore, and Gordon Ramsay Steak in Atlantic City. He was also part of Ramsay's FOX primetime productions of "The F Word" and "24 Hours to Hell & Back". In his previous role as General Manager at Wynn and Encore in Las Vegas, Adyani attained Forbes Five Star accolades four years in a row and earlier in his career, as Vice President of Compass Group, Adyani re-concepted and opened James Beard award recipient and Michelin Star winning Spiaggia Café by Chef Tony Mantuano.
