Pizza Port To Bring Pizza & Craft Beer To Imperial Beach

September 10, 2018

Pizza Port has targeted the South County San Diego neighborhood of Imperial Beach for the company's 6th location, expected to move into the 3,168 square-foot retail building at 204-208 Palm Avenue that currently houses Luna's Beauty Designers, TNT Surf Shop and West Coast Cafe for a 2019 opening.

Founded in Solana Beach in March 1987 by brother and sister, Vince & Gina Marsaglia, Pizza Port initially focused on the food side of business while tinkering with home brewing in the restaurant's storage area. It wasn't until 1992 that the eatery offered its first house-brewed craft beers, and today, the brewery component of Pizza Port has won over 91 awards and is regarded as one of San Diego's leading breweries. The company expanded to a second location with the opening of the Carlsbad outpost in 1997 and hasn't stopped since, opening in San Clemente in 2003, in Ocean Bach in 2010 and in Bressi Ranch in 2013. In 2006, Pizza Port founders took over Stone Brewing's old brewhouse in San Marcos for the launch of The Lost Abbey, an Old-World-style craft brewery that has garnered a significant reputation over the years.

We believe that Pizza Port will soon take over the entire retail building at the corner of Palm Avenue and 2nd street, blocks from the ocean in Imperial Beach. After a substantial build out and redesign, the 6th Pizza Port branch will begin serving the brewpub's simple menu of tavern fare and pizza in a fun and relaxed setting. Like other locations, expect arcade games and picnic tables, as well as plenty of West Coast craft beer options.
