Mattarello Cooking Lab To Bring Italian Delights To Downtown San Diego

Opening soon in the quaint East Village space that last housed Cute Cakes is Mattarello Cooking Lab, an all-day Italian bakery, pasta shop and restaurant from two native Italians.

From Italian-born Lucia Celi and Francesco Guardini, a couple that operates two eateries in Milan, Mattarello Cooking Lab will be a 25-seat pasta shop and traditional Italian cafe hoping to open later this month. In addition to a retail fresh pasta counter, the place will also serve an array of dishes, including breakfast egg sandwiches and omelettes, square pizza, focaccia, stuffed ravioli, an array of pasta dishes, and desserts, as well as small plates like meatballs with foccaccia, eggplant parmigiana, and coffee drinks.
