The team behind popular longtime local catering business, The Wild Thyme Company, has launched its first brick-and-mortar eatery. Now open in the space that last housed Waters Fine Foods in downtown San Diego is The Wild Thyme Table, a quick-service, casual, "California-fresh "restaurant and marketplace.
Chef Dawn Carvajal has owned and operated The Wild Thyme Company Catering & Events for more than 13 years. With her wife Daisy by her side, the two have taken on the next step in developing the brand by offering a daily, fast-casual eatery at The Wild Thyme Table. The Wild Thyme Table was born from one of Chef Dawn's many dreams to expand her brand - the idea of providing a storefront to serve food daily and put a face to the name. Now people do not have to plan or host events to experience her cuisine. The Wild Thyme table is an extension of its parent catering company, offering a storefront to showcase their offerings as daily service.
"Even if you are dining alone, you are never truly alone amongst your friends at 'The Table'," commented Chef Dawn Carvajal. "At one time, we can comfortably hangout with up to 30 of our friends on the patio and up to 50 including the indoor space. It's straightforward food, without complication. But I want to clarify, straightforward does not mean boring! It's characterized as natural, bright ingredients that stand out on their own, but full shine altogether."
The Wild Thyme Table opened this week in the 1,065 square-foot downtown space that was previously occupied by Waters Fine Foods & Catering. The restaurant has been designed to offer a bright, light interior that complements the fresh menu offerings with an inviting, outdoor patio. Menu highlights include the Citrus Turkey sandwich, the Cobb not Cobb salad with the blackened sweet potatoes, and the Banh Mi Bao - a twist on one of the most craveable sandwiches on earth.
