Opening in the La Jolla space that last housed a branch of Wahoo's Fish Tacos is Cruisers Sub Shop, a surf-themed sandwich eatery from the Steamboat area of Colorado.
From brother and sister Kris Shea & Kathy Sandler - who opened their first location in the ski destination of Steamboat Springs, CO, in 2011 - Cruisers Sub Shop offers a menu of affordable sandwiches available for breakfast and lunch. The eatery's menu is centered around toasted submarine sandwiches and grilled cheese "toasties". There will also be vegan and gluten free options. The La Jolla location will have a quaint outdoor patio facing Pearl Street and also serve draft beer and wine.
"We've been very kindly received by the community members we've met so far in La Jolla and love the small town feel of the neighborhood," said Cruisers Sub Shop co-owner Kathy Sandler. "It warms our hearts and we are happy to be here."
