Escondido's Baltimore Snowball Frozen Treat Concept To Expand To La Jolla

March 4, 2019

The team behind Escondido's Baltimore Snowball frozen dessert stand are opening a new location in La Jolla, moving into The International Shops marketplace later this year.
Founded by Joe and Loretta Dukes in Escondido in 2012, Baltimore Snowball is a frozen dessert shop that specializes in shaved ice smothered in unending combinations of sweet syrups, sauces, and even topped with creamy ice cream flavors. In 2014, the couple expanded their concept with the opening of a location in San Marcos, but that outpost shuttered two years later. In spring of 2018, after two years of research and development, Baltimore Snowball introduced prepackaged varieties that are now distributed to grocery stores, convenience markets, and other venues around San Diego County.

Baltimore Snowball aims to open a location in La Jolla Village by this spring. Like the North County shack, the shop will serve a large variety of signature and customizable "snowballs", as well as the company's line up of prepackaged versions available for take home. Customer favorites include "The Elvis" made with chocolate ice cream, layered with peanut butter, peanut butter sauce and banana snow, then topped with peanut butter and chocolate sauce. Another standout is "The Ocean City Sunset" with flavors of orange, marshmallow, banana, peach and cream.

Baltimore Snowball will sit at 1237 Prospect Street, Suite V, in La Jolla. For more information, visit baltimoresnowball.biz.
