Bolt Brewery & Spirits To Open In La Mesa

May 22, 2019

The husband-and-wife team behind East County-based Bolt Brewery have taken over Mr. G's Tavern in La Mesa and will open a tasting room and cocktail bar. Bolt Brewery & Spirits is coming soon.

La Mesa residents Clint & Molly Stromberg brought Bolt Brewery to their East County San Diego neighborhood in 2014 and expanded with a tasting room and restaurant in Little Italy that opened in summer 2015. The duo recently took over the more than 70-year-old Mr. G's Tavern in La Mesa and will soon redevelop it into Bolt Brewery & Spirits.

Being that Mr. G's carried a full liquor license, the Strombergs will continue to serve cocktails while taking over the taps with Bolt's signature craft beer options like the OG IPA, Dan Stout, Citrasaurus, and Love Canoe Lager. The 1,285 square foot space is in the process of undergoing a complete interior remodel to modernize the aesthetics, including the addition of roll-up windows to add some much-needed light. A kitchen will also be added as part of the second phase of development, allowing the location to serve an all-day menu similar to the Little Italy outpost.

Expect Bolt Brewery & Spirits to unveil at 7081 University Avenue in La Mesa by summer's end. For more information, visit boltbrewery.com.
