After More Than 20 Years In San Diego, Rimel's Rotisserie Will Close Last Remaining Location

August 27, 2019

A San Diego staple for fresh chicken plates for nearly three decades, Rimel's Rotisserie has announced it will close the last remaining location next week.

Founded by Matt & Jackie Rimel, Rimel's Rotisserie opened in La Jolla in 1993 with subsequent outposts launching in Del Mar, Cardiff and atop the Western Metal Supply building in Petco Park. The husband-and-wife duo also launched sister concept Zenbu Sushi across from the State Beach Campgrounds in Cardiff in 2008 and had branches in La Jolla and in Petco Park during the 2015-2017 Padres seasons. Over the past year, Rimel has shuttered all restaurants, including the original La Jolla branch earlier this month, with the Cardiff Rimel's Rotisserie being the last to remain.

It was announced today that Rimel's Rotisserie in Cardiff will shutter after close of business on Monday, September 2. There is no word on who will move into the space adjacent to Seaside Market.
