Municipal To Bring Tacos, Tequila, Mezcal & House-Brewed Craft Beer To San Diego's North County

January 21, 2020

Taking over the expansive space that last housed URGE Gastropub & Whiskey Bank in San Diego's North County town of Oceanside is Municipal, a modern Mexican restaurant and agave-fueled bar from longtime industry insiders.

From John Freis, Joseph Freis and Angela Hussey, who all have operating experience with San Diego chains Pizza Nova and Best Pizza and Brew, Municipal Taco will soon open in the 7,700+ square-foot building left dormant by the August 2019 closure URGE Gastropub & Whiskey Bank. The redesign of the space is being spearheaded by CLTVT, an Oceanside-based hospitality design commercial general contractor behind such area projects as the recently unveiled Ebullition Brew Works & Gastropub in Carlsbad and the new Eppig Brewing Vista location. As the name suggests, Municipal will have a menu centered around authentic Mexican tacos and other traditional dishes, as well as a full bar focused on all things agave. Expect an expansive list of mezcal and tequila varieties, as well as house-brewed craft beers.

Municipal Tacos, Tequila & Mezcal is expected to open at some point this February at 2002 South Coast Highway in downtown Oceanside. For more information, visit municipaltaco.com.
