CORRECTION: Chez Loma To Reopen In Coronado

February 19, 2020

We reported earlier that Coronado's Chez Loma had closed after nearly 50 years in business, but we received word from ownership that the restaurant will be reopening.

Housed in an 1880s-era restored Folk Victorian mansion for nearly 50 years, Chez Loma French restaurant abruptly shuttered in Coronado this week but ownership has ensured us they intend to reopen.

Although Chez Loma has been in business in the historic Carey Cizare House built in 1889 in the heart of downtown Coronado since 1974, it has been owned and operated since 2012 by Uruguay-native Chef Alejandro Martinez. Previous ownership included Lars and Carolyn Sjostrands, as well as local chef Ken Irvine, who operates Bleu Boheme in Kensington and Sea180 in Imperial Beach. Rumor has it, the front patio used to be a favorite haunt of late popcorn magnate Orville Redenbacher during his time living in Coronado.

This is a developing story: We will update this post as we learn more.
