Barons Market Installs Barriers At Checkout To Protect Store Visitors & Employees Alike

March 26, 2020

After being one of the first grocery stores to offer senior-only morning shopping hours amid COVID-19 coronavirus concerns, San Diego-based Barons Markets is installing plexiglass shields at its checkout aisles to help prevent the spread of germs.

In its most recent effort to keep customers and employees safe during a high-volume shopping time, Barons Market’s North Park store installed plexiglass barriers at its cash registers between employees and its customers. This measure is aimed to help prevent the potential spread of germs related to the COVID-19 virus from one individual to another. Installations at the company's other seven stores will happen throughout the week.

In addition to this preventative measure, Barons began allowing only 30 customers in the store at one time and ensuring that these customers stand six feet apart when waiting in line. Earlier in the month, it adjusted its store hours to allow for a senior-only hour from 9-10am every day and extensive sanitizing before and after each day. Regular store hours are now from 10am to 8pm. During this difficult and uncertain time, the family-owned market is at the forefront of groceries taking thoughtful precautions to ensure that its employees and customers have access to good food at good prices, and remain safe and healthy. Locally, Barons Market has location in Alpine, North Park, Point Loma, and Rancho Bernardo.
