Handel's Ice Cream To Bring 4th San Diego Location To Pacific Beach

August 29, 2020

The fourth area location of Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream will open later this year in the heart of San Diego's Pacific Beach.

Handel's was founded in the summer of 1945 by Alice Handel, who started the company at her husband's gas station in Youngstown, Ohio, serving ice cream made using fresh fruit from her home garden. This past February, Handel’s opened the company's 50th national location and third San Diego branch in Del Mar Highlands Town Center. There are also Handel’s branches in Encinitas and Carlsbad, all of which continue to carry the same traditions and old-school ambiance as the original destination to this day.

The newest San Diego Handel's location will open a stone throw from Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach, recently securing a lease on the space that last housed Closet clothing shop. Like other branches, the new outpost will offer a variety of over 100 flavors of homemade ice cream and yogurt made fresh daily, one batch at a time, at each location.

Handel’s is expected to open by year's end at 4475 Mission Boulevard in Pacific Beach. For more information, visit handelsicecream.com.
