More New Dining Concepts Heading To University Of California San Diego Campus

August 31, 2020

We announced earlier this summer that growing San Diego-based vegan drive-through chain Plant Power Fast Food would be opening its eighth outpost on the University of California San Diego campus, and we now know of 5 more dining concepts heading to UCSD.

Next year, the brand new 10 acre North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Campus is set to unveil in early 2021 on the west side of UCSD campus between Muir and Marshall Colleges. The new mix-use compound will feature housing buildings, academic facilities, outdoor spaces and six new eateries, including an already-announced new branch of San Diego-based Plant Power Fast Food vegan restaurant.

Adding to the new UCSD campus is a new concept from the hospitality group behind Himitsu and The Taco Stand, now dubbed Shōwa Hospitality. Shōwa Ramen will be a traditional Japanese izakaya with a menu of ramen noodle soups and other Asian fusion dishes. There will also be another outpost of Tahini, a Middle Eastern shawarma house based in Clairemont Mesa that was featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins & DivesTaste of Hunan from Scripps Ranch will also open a fast-casual location with a menu of Chinese-American dishes. Blue Bowl is another new concept opening in the new campus, offering superfood bowls similar to Everbowl. Lastly, Pasadena-based coffee house Copa Vida will offer cafe concoctions and a food menu with breakfast and lunch options.
