Moving into the space that last housed Sapporo Japanese restaurant in Ocean Beach is JJ's Sports Bar & Grille, a classic American tavern based out of San Bernardino, CA.
The first location of JJ's Sports Bar & Grille opened in San Bernardino in 2015 with a second outpost launched in nearby Highland in 2017. The original location shuttered in late 2018. The divey, sports-fueled bar and eatery is known for its buxom "JJ's Girls", tavern fare menu and devotion to UFC fights and NFL games.
The San Diego location will be owned and operated by Ashraf and Yareli Swidan and will soon open in the space that last housed the recently-closed Sapporo on Newport Avenue in Ocean Beach. Expect a menu of classic American pub and Mexican food favorites, including appetizer sampler platters, wings, salads, burgers, sandwiches, nachos, tacos, quesadillas, and burritos, as well as a full bar.
