Coronado's Spiro’s Greek Café To Replicate In La Jolla

September 3, 2020

Following more than 2 decades serving traditional Greek cuisine in Coronado, Spiro’s Greek Café will soon launch a second location in San Diego's La Jolla neighborhood.

Spiro’s Greek Café was founded at the Coronado Ferry Landing in 1998 by Greece-native Spiro Chaconas and his wife Nancy. In addition to a lengthy menu of traditional Greek dishes like gyro sandwiches, kabob platters, and mousaka, the taverna also offers seafood options like fish tacos, fried calamari and fish & chips. Other comfort food favorites at Spiro’s include Pastitso, a Greek style lasagna dish made with ground beef and béchamel sauce, and weekend dinner specials like grilled lamb chops and filet mignon.

The Chaconas family has taken over the 1,220 square-foot space with a 570 square-foot patio previously occupied by a Cold Stone Creamery in La Jolla for a second location. The restaurant will offer the same menu of Greek favorites as well as a list of local craft beer and wine.

The new Spiro’s Greek Café is expected to open by late 2020 at 909 Prospect Street, Unit 100B in San Diego's La Jolla neighborhood. For more information, visit spirosgreekcafe.com.
