The owners of Vom Fass in Hillcrest are relocating to a waterfront unit at the Coronado Ferry Landing and will add a wine bar & tasting room to their business. Coronado Tasting Room is expected to unveil this fall.
San Diegans Jay and Colleen Cavalieri have owned and operated European-style specialty market Vom Fass in Hilcrest since 2015, offering a large variety of delicious oils, balsamic vinegars, spices, and craft spirits, as well as hosting popular tasting events.
"When our lease was up for renewal, we decided to move the business to Coronado which has been our home for 22 years (Jay is a retired Naval officer and still works for the Navy)," wrote Vom Fass Hillcrest owner Colleen Cavalieri. "Our new location at the Coronado Ferry Landing is large enough to allow us to have Vom Fass on one side and add a wine bar and tasting room on the other side. We have always loved the wine portion of our business so it seemed like the perfect use of the space. We had a wine club at our store in Hillcrest which we will revive in Coronado. We will offer cheese plates and other food items.
The Cavalieris have taken over a prime 1,800 square-foot space at the Coronado Ferry Landing and will open dual concepts Vom Fass on one end and Coronado Tasting Room on the other. The businesses are anticipated to open this fall. The space will offer cask-aged vinegars, exquisite oils, select wines, spirits, and liqueurs - each sold directly from the cask and dispensed into a variety of quantities and containers. The space will have 6 small tables outside, as well as some inside, offering craft beer, wine, and a menu of charcuterie boards and snacks.
