Border X Brewing Opens Sister Concept Mujeres Brew House In San Diego's Barrio Logan

November 7, 2020

Now open in the space that last housed Alta Brewing in San Diego's Barrio Logan community is Mujeres Brew House, a women-run brewery owned by nearby Border X Brewing.

Soft opening today within the gallery space on the base floor of the Bread & Salt building in Barrio Logan, Mujeres Brew House is a collaboration between the female-led Mujeres Brew Club beer education group and Border X Brewing. Founded by Carmen Favela and Esthela Davila, the non-profit company's mission is to be managed by women and to help women, specifically women of color and minorities, enter into and thrive within the male-dominated craft beer community. Carmen Favela and her husband David launched Border X Brewing in 2013.

Mujeres Brew House currently offers a pair of collaboration beers, including Remission Possible sour hazy double IPA brewed with Hopnonymous Brewing in Kearney Mesa. Profits from the sale of this pink beer will be donated to Angela Nguyen, an employee of Fall Brewing in North Park who is undergoing breast cancer treatment. The second collaboration beer is La Casa Verde IPA, brewed with Thr3e Punk Ales in Chula Vista. The rest of the taplist will consist of Bootstrap Kombucha and Border X beers until the company starts brewing their own collection onsite in the near future. Starting next year, the brewery will also be used to host classes in brewing and hospitality.

Mujeres Brew House is located at 1983 Julian Avenue in San Diego's historic Barrio Logan community. For more information, visit mujeresbrewhouse.com.
