Ambrogio15 Team To Bring Semola Pasta Bar To La Jolla

January 11, 2021

The team behind Pacific Beach's popular Ambrogio15 restaurant has taken over the former PrepKitchen space in La Jolla and will be relocating its Semola Pasta Bar concept from the Little Italy Food Hall.

Milan-turned-San Diego residents Giacomo Pizzigoni, Andrea Burrone and Luca Salvi opened the flagship Ambrogio15 on Turquoise Street in San Diego's North Pacific Beach community in August 2016. The team expanded in 2018 with a stall within the Little Italy Food Hall and also has plans in place for a micro-version of Ambrogio15 to debut within Del Mar Highlands Town Center's incoming, 20,000 square-foot, multi-restaurant food hall called The Sky Deck. The Ambrogio boys launched new concept Semola Artisan Express Pasta in the Little Italy Food Hall in 2019 but recently announced they would be relocating the concept. The Ambrogio team is also partnering on the opening of an Italian sandwich eatery and enoteca in La Jolla called Ciao Ciao Piadina, which is anticipated to open in early 2021.

The Ambrogio15 crew has removed Semola from the Little Italy Food Hall and will debut Semola The Ambrogio15 Pasta Bar in the coming months in the indoor/outdoor space left dormant by last year's sudden and inexplicable closure of PrepKitchen in La Jolla. The menu will feature several modern pasta dishes as well as special dishes inspired to the team's hometown of Milano and a lengthy list of natural and biodynamic wines.

Semola The Ambrogio15 Pasta Bar is expected to open by this spring at 7556 Fay Avenue in La Jolla. For more information, visit semolapasta.com.
