Internet Sensation Mr. Fries Man To Open San Diego Location

February 9, 2021

Los Angeles-based Mr. Fries Man️ has announced to his more than 350,000 Instagram followers that the company will soon launch a customizable, smothered fries restaurant in San Diego.

Chef Craig Batiste started Mr. Fries Man in 2016 as a parking lot pop-up in Gardena, CA. At the time, Batiste was part of an underground community of African-American chefs around South Los Angeles County who used social media to sell homemade meals directly to patrons. With $400 and support from his neighborhood, Batiste began dishing out fries served with a never-ending variety of toppings and eventually opened his first brick-and-mortar eatery in early 2017. Mr. Fries Man is now a franchise with locations in the works throughout California, Utah, and Las Vegas.

The first San Diego location of Mr. Fries Man will install in the space that last housed Island Style Hawaii BBQ in the historic Dunaway Building in Pacific Beach. The fast-casual eatery will offer a menu of French fries stacked with a large array of proteins, sauces and add-ons. Signature menu choice combinations include BBQ bacon ranch shrimp, chicken bacon parmesan, lemon garlic crab & shrimp, and more, plus a long list of customizable ingredient options that even include Beyond Meat for those on a plant-based diet.

Mr. Fries Man is expected to open as early as this May at 4508 Cass Street, Suite D, in San Diego's Pacific Beach. Based on the success of the first location, more area outposts may open in other neighborhoods in the near future. For more information, visit mrfriesman.com.
