Birria Kings Food Truck To Open Brick-And-Mortar Birria Restaurant & Michelada Bar In San Diego's South County

March 14, 2021

After launching two food truck concepts only late last year, the owners of Birria Kings and Hibachi Kings are opening a brick-and-mortar birria restaurant and Michelada bar in the building that last housed a branch of Salud in San Diego's South County.

Former nightclub marketers Albert Calderon and Junior Moran opened Hibachi Kings food truck in San Diego's Chula Vista last summer with Birria Kings food truck unveiling a month later. Hibachi Kings is a mobile eatery and catering business that offers Japanese hibachi combination plates with a large variety of proteins, vegetables, and sauces, while Birria Kings presents a menu centered around slow-simmered shredded beef birria. In addition to opening a fast-casual Birria Kings restaurant as early as next month, the duo also plans to open a second Hibachi Kings food truck in San Diego's South Park neighborhood at some point this spring.

Birria Kings is anticipated to open this April in the building previously occupied by Salud in National City.  The counter service restaurant will offer a menu of tacos, mulitas, burritos, tortas, and even birria ramen and pizza. Birria Kings will also present a variety of michelada beer cocktails. The space will have a live tortilla making station, a large flatscreen television playing music videos and art installations.

Birria Kings restaurant will be located at 2333 Highland Avenue in San Diego's National City community. For more information, visit birriakingssd.com and check out the menu below.
