Bay City Brewing Company To Finally Open East Village Tap Room, Rooftop Deck & Pizzeria

April 29, 2021

Over a year since COVID-19 scratched the scheduled grand opening, Bay City Brewing Company will finally open its East Village tasting room and rooftop lounge this weekend.

Point Loma natives Gregory Anderson, who owns McGregor’s Grill and Ale House in Mission Valley, and orthopedic shoulder surgeon and avid homebrewer Benjamin DuBois opened Bay City Brewing Company in the remote neighborhood between San Diego and Mission Bays in summer 2015, offering a "coastal urban vibe" and a taplist created by original head brewer Chris West. In 2018, West was replaced as head brewer by Austin Pinder, who joined Bay City from Karl Strauss Brewing. Bay City Brewing was set to open a second location in San Diego's East Village on Monday, March 16, 2020, but that was the day the county announced a full shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Just in time for the Padres homestead, Bay City Brewing its East Village restaurant, taproom and rooftop lounge on Friday, April 30. Located in one of the city’s oldest buildings, the second location features  4,735 square-foot indoor-outdoor space with plenty of seating, fire pits, a video wall, games and downtown views. Although Bay City's restaurant component will not initially open, the space will offer  a seasonal selection of Bay City’s finest ales including favorites like 72 and Hoppy, Bay City IPA, Jucci Gang and more. The food component is expected to open later this spring with a rotating menu of specialty pizzas, wings, fresh salads and breadsticks.

Bay City Brewing Company's downtown location is located at 627 Eight Avenue in San Diego's East Village. For more information, visit baycitybrewingco.com/visit/tasting-room.
