Sandbox Pizza & Wings To Relocate In San Diego's Pacific Beach

April 14, 2021

After 7 years operating on the corner of Grand & Cass in San Diego's Pacific Beach, Sandbox Pizza & Wings has taken over the PB Cantina space on Garnet Avenue and will be relocating in the very near future.

In October 2013, Randy Martin, who also owns The Tipsy Crow in San Diego's Gaslamp, opened Sandbox Pizza & Wings in Pacific Beach. Martin recently purchased PB Cantina from Sunset Restaurant Management Group, which also Cabo Cantina, Baja Beach Bar, and Fiesta Cantina in San Diego. The space will soon undergo a 2 month renovation with Sandbox Pizza opening in the unit as early as the first week of June 2021. Sandbox will remain in operation at its original location until the their new home is ready. The kitchen at Sandbox Pizza & Wings will remain in the hands of kitchen manager Kyle Musser, who will expand the menu for the new space.

"The whole [former PB Cantina] venue will get a facelift and updates," explained Sandbox Pizza Director of Operations Nathan Colonero. "We are currently working through some food R&D to see what makes sense for different pizza-style options as well apps and entrees. We will still have over 15 beers on draft and a new cocktail menu rolled out in the first weeks of reopening. We are very excited that the increase in kitchen size will make it much easier to handle the volume of food orders we could barely keep up with in the past. The entertainment side is also going to be a huge upgrade with live music Dj and dancing."

The new Sandbox Pizza will have an expanded capacity to host approximately 250 patrons, nearly double the occupancy of the original location. The menu features a large list of pizzeria-style appetizers, salads, sandwiches, wings, and specialty pizzas with a multitude of sauces and toppings.

Sandbox Pizza & Wings will relocate to 1466 Garnet Avenue in San Diego's Pacific Beach by this summer. For more information, visit sandboxsd.com and check out the menu below.
