Global Dessert Shop Hui Lau Shan To Open San Diego Location

May 2, 2021

A 60-year-old dessert chain founded in Hong Kong, Hui Lau Shan will soon open a location in San Diego's Kearny Mesa.

Hui Lau Shan was founded as a traditional tea shop in the Yuen Long town of Hong Kong in 1960 before converting to a dessert shop in the early 1990s. The popular chain now has more than 300 locations around China, Malaysia, Korea and the United States, offering a menu of fruit-forward desserts and teas.

The San Diego location of Hui Lau Shan is expected to open this summer within Convoy Village Shopping Plaza in Kearny Mesa. Expect patrons to line up to try Hui Lau Shan's signature dessert - the Mango Chewy Ball, a bowl of pureed imported mango topped with fresh made mango ice cream and tapioca balls. In addition to a large variety of creative desserts, Hui Lau Shan also sells Chinese herbal jelly and handmade drinks like the three-layered mango and coconut juice with aloe jelly.

Hui Lau Shan is anticipated to open in late June at 4344 Convoy Street, Suite M, in San Diego's Kearny Mesa. For more information, visit hkhls.com/en and check out the menu below.
