Swagyu Butcher Shop, Burger Bar & Restaurant To Open In San Diego's Pacific Beach On June 9

June 3, 2021

Swagyu butcher shop, burger bar, and chef-driven restaurant is opening next week in the Pacific Beach space long occupied by Isabel's Cantina.

Chef Steve Brown opened his first Swagyu Chop Shop last summer at 1002 Palm Avenue in Imperial Beach and already has another location in Poway. Late last year, Brown took over the 19-year-old Isabel's Cantina in Pacific Beach for a pop-up location of his butcher shop. He has since permanently secured the restaurant space to open the flagship branch of his Swagyu Burger & Chop Shop.

Set to open on June 9, Swagyu Burger & Chop Shop will be one part butcher shop and one part full service restaurant. The butchery and burger bar will be located on the right side of the building and serve cuts of A5 Wagyu and other specialty meats. Patrons will be able to grab smashed burgers, nitro potatoes, and fried steak katsu sandwiches, as well as eventually be able to get cooked steaks customers can choose directly from the meat counter with only a 20% additional charge over the butcher price. There will also be a dedicated area on the building's western side where Brown will serve his special 12-course tasting menus. Swagyu Burger & Chop Shop will serve beer, wine and specialty sake to compliment its food offerings. The restaurant will also start its weekend "Boozy Brunch" starting this summer.

Swagyu Burger & Chop Shop is set to open on Wednesday, June 9, from 11am to 7pm, at 966 Felspar Street in San Diego's Pacific Beach. For more information, visit swagyu.square.site.
