Breakfast Republic To Open New Location In San Diego's Hillcrest

July 16, 2021

The twelfth location of Breakfast Republic will open in San Diego's Hillcrest later this year, taking over the old Tractor Room space that was last occupied by Two Seven Eight.

Swedan native Johan Engman entered the breakfast game with his first Fig Tree Cafe in Pacific Beach in 2008, Since then, his Rise & Shine Restaurant Group opened two additional Fig Tree locations (Hillcrest & Liberty Station) with an East Village branch on the way and packs the house at eleven outposts of his Breakfast Republic concept. The Hillcrest Breakfast Republic was previously slated to open in 2019 at the site of Engman's first Fig Tree Cafe location, but that never came to fruition.

The new Breakfast Republic will serve the same menu of costly, overindulgent breakfast foods as the others with a design featuring signature egg chairs, a living wall with kitschy phrasing, and community seating options. This location will also boast a full bar with cocktails, mimosa drinks and craft beer. Expect a quick turnaround with the restaurant anticipated to open as early as this fall.

Breakfast Republic Hillcrest will sit at 3687 5th Avenue. For more information, visit breakfastrepublic.com.
