Benihibachi Japanese Grill has been serving authentic hibachi from food trucks on the streets of Los Angeles and Southern California for the past few years, but the concept will soon launch a brick-and-mortar location in downtown San Diego.
Bright-red Benihibachi trucks have been operating around Los Angeles since 2019 and there are now locations outside Souther California serving in Oakland and Las Vegas, as well as a full service restaurant launched in fall 2020 in downtown Los Angeles. Benihibachi’s menu is based around seven different proteins cooked on a Teppanyaki grill including lobster, scallops, and New York steak. Plates come with steamed white rice and vegetables with fried rice and sauces for an additional cost.
Benihibachi is taking over the corner unit in downtown San Diego previously occupied by Don TJ Tacos. Expect a fast-casual experience with the expansive customizable menu served for dine in or take out.
