Jolie To Bring Upscale Butchery & Chef-Driven Seasonal Restaurant To San Diego's Coronado

August 2, 2021

An experienced California chef and restaurateur is in the process of developing Jolie - an upscale butcher shop, market, and seasonal restaurant opening later this year in San Diego's Coronado.

Over his young career, Chef Jason Witzl has launched several restaurants under his Long Beach-based Mother’s Restaurant Group, all named after influential women in his life. Chef Jason began his culinary endeavor in 2008 and has since worked in some of the top kitchens around the world, including Campanile, The Water Grill, Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Manhattan Beach Post and the three Michelin starred Martin Berasategui. In the last few years, Chef Witzl has opened Ellie's Italian restaurant, reservation-only tasting restaurant Ginger's and Mexican seafood eatery Lupe's de la Mar, all sited in Long Beach, CA. Witzl has recently teamed up with SDSU alum Christian Biafora, who owns the building where Jolie is opening, and future Director of Operations Molly Sirody to open Jolie on Orange Avenue in Coronado.

Jolie will open later this year with an onsite butcher counter featuring USDA Prime Flannery Beef and Snake River Farms meats, as well as fresh seafood, cheeses, pickled products, jams, and other items made in house. There will also be an onsite wine shop featuring a globally influenced wine selection and a market area with curated products. The onsite restaurant will boast a seasonally changing menu featuring locally sourced produce.

Jolie is expected to open as early as this September at 126 Orange Avenue, Suite B, in Coronado. For more information, visit joliecoronado.com.
