Korean Fried Chicken Specialist BB.Q Chicken To Open San Diego Locations

September 23, 2021

A Korean Fried Chicken chain with restaurants around the world. BB.Q Chicken is in the process of opening at least two San Diego locations.

Founded in Korea in 1995 with over 1,000 locations throughout the globe, BB.Q Chicken is making its return to San Diego after having a store in Kearny Mesa from 2008 through 2013. The company is in the process of a large expansion, which includes locations on San Diego's Convoy Street and another in the South County community of National City.

BB.Q Chicken will open its first area branch as early as next week at 4344 Convoy Street in the space that long housed Ichiro restaurant, which closed earlier this year after nearly four decades in business. The second San Diego outpost aims to unveil by year's end at 2525 East Plaza Boulevard in National City. Based on the success of the first two area restaurants, more branches may be on the way to other San Diego neighborhoods. The menu will feature a large variety of chicken fried in olive oil then toasted in an array of sauces and seasonings, as well as several side dishes, a couple salads, and a pair of fried chicken sandwiches.
