Australia-Born MRKT SPACE Cafe Opens First San Diego Location

October 5, 2021

Now open in San Diego's North County is the first area location of Australia-born MRKT SPACE - a combination cafe, bar and gourmet market concept.

MRKT SPACE is an upscale convenient store, bottle shop, cafe, bar and all-day restaurant concept first opened in 2019 in the Leighton Beach area of Australia. The first San Diego branch opened this week within the 3,100 square-foot ground floor suite at the new The Beacons mixed-use development on Highway 101 in Encinitas. A second area outpost will open as early as this coming January at 2202 Avenida de La Playa as part of the Whitney mixed-use development that unveiled recently in La Jolla Shores.

The MRKT SPACE concept serves an all-day menu of Italian-inspired dishes, featuring breakfast items, sandwiches, flatbreads and charcuterie boards, as well as bakery items such as pastries, cakes, croissants, biscuits and muffins. The market also sells a curated selection of groceries, including a variety of organic and vegan items, produce, fresh baked bread, eggs, and cured meats and cheeses. There is also a full bar with wine, beer and spirits, which are also available to-go from a luxury bottle shop, as well as a cafe component with espresso and coffee drinks. The San Diego locations are operated by Encinitas local Matthew Power.

The first San Diego outpost of MRKT Space is sited at 782 North Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas. For more information, visit mrktspace.com and check out the menu below.
