La Jolla's Former ArcLight Cinemas To Become Full-Service AMC UTC 14 Theater

January 12, 2022

ArcLight Cinemas La Jolla announced its permanent closure in spring 2021, but the movie theater will reopen later this year as AMC UTC 14, which will have a full bar & dining component.

Located in part of the renovated Robinsons-May department store building in La Jolla's Westfield UTC mall, Arclight La Jolla opened in November 2012 and was closed on March 17, 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was announced on April 13, 2021, that the closure would be permanent in all ArcLight/Pacific Theatres. Last December, it was announced that movie theater behemoth AMC had taken over former ArcLight locations in Chicago and Northridge, CA, with plans to negotiate leases on other highly performing ArcLight/Pacific Theatres properties.

We have learned that AMC has taken over the lease at the former ArcLight at Westfield UTC. The new theater, dubbed AMC UTC 14, is expected to open in late 2022 and will be a full-service experience with an onsite bar and restaurant, as well as in-theater dining options. AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc. also operates the AMC La Jolla 12 at La Jolla Village Square, which is less than two miles from Westfield UTC.

AMC UTC 14 is expected to open as early as this summer at 4425 La Jolla Village Drive, Suite H60, within Westfield UTC mall in San Diego's La Jolla. For more information, visit amctheatres.com.
