Yum Yum Africa Restaurant To Open In San Diego's Old Town

January 22, 2022

Yum Yum Africa will bring a taste of the motherland to San Diego's Old Town when it opens later this year.

In 2015, Chef Adam Ouidiani sold his restaurant in Africa and relocated to the United States to be closer to his family and to his brother Chad, who had been living in San Diego for over 20 years. Chad, a builder, investor and a writer, wanted to have his brother work with him and use his experience and talent as a chef. Also, the brothers noticed a lack of African food restaurants in San Diego, so they decided to create the Yum Yum Africa pop up experience.

Yum Yum Africa has taken over the building on Congress Street across from the new Old Town Urban Market in Old Town that last housed El Charro Mexican Grill. Yum Yum will open later this year with a menu of authentic African food, described as "a fusion of European, Jewish, & Mediterranean cuisine." Expect an all-day menu with items like crepes, smoothies, omelettes, merguez sausage, couscous, pizza, and bread baked fresh, from scratch everyday.

Yum Yum Africa is anticipated to open by this spring at 2543 Congress Street in San Diego's Old Town. For more information, visit yumyumafrica.com.
