The Dog Society To Bring Full Service Canine Care Facility & Beer Garden To San Diego

February 20, 2022

A canine care facility and beer garden is nearly ready to unveil in San Diego's mid-city. Billed as a "place to play, socialize and relax - for you and your dog," The Dog Society will open this February.

From Sara Broetje, who previously operated The Pooped Puppy daycare and boarding in La Mesa, The Dog Society is "a modern puptopia" opening later this month in the 8,500 square-foot, round standalone building that last housed Wyckes Furniture. It will be a one-stop shop for dog owners, offering canine daycare, longterm boarding, an array of training services and grooming, all under one roof.

"San Diego is one of the most dog-friendly cities in the U.S., yet somehow there has not yet been a dog and human play place," said The Dog Society owner Sara Broetje. "We’re proud to have created the first people friendly dog company in San Diego--a place where canines and their people companions can gather together to live their best lives."

The Dog Society offers a state-of-the-art facility featuring modern amenities and an open layout for people and pups alike. Dogs will have access to both indoor and outdoor play areas, while their human companions can enjoy a full size shuffleboard court, cornhole, putt-putt golf, a pool table and an outdoor beer garden. The Dog Society also has an onsite cafe with a menu featuring a variety of items like nachos, acai bowls, paninis, and salads. It also boasts a full service coffee and espresso bar, which has nitro cold brew and kombucha on tap, smoothies, root beer floats, avocado toast and a kid’s menu.

"We all share a love for our pups, and we hope to create a sense of community, belonging and connection for friends and family here - whether they’re on two legs or four," added Broetje. "The past year has been hard on everyone, and we can’t wait to get the community back together in a fun and safe place."

The Dog Society will open on Friday, February 25 at 6331 University Avenue in San Diego's Rolando neighborhood.  For more information, visit dogsocietysd.com
