Popular Taiwanese Boba Tea Chain The Alley To Open First San Diego Location

May 5, 2022

Modern Taiwanese boba tea chain The Alley will soon open its first San Diego location.

The Alley was founded in Taiwan by graphic designer Mao-ting Chiu in 2015, and the brand now has around 300 locations around the world, including in China, Japan, Canada, Australia, France and California. The Alley's U.S. expansion is led by Orange County's Kei Concepts, which has various restaurant brands under its umbrella and has been rumored to be opening offshoots of its concepts in San Diego for the last few years. The first San Diego location of The Alley will open within the Balboa Mesa Shopping Center in Clairemont Mesa.

The Alley serves a large variety of Instagram-worthy milk and fruit bubble teas, including its signature Deerioca milk tea filled with brown sugar pearls that are made in-house daily. The Alley uses ingredients exclusively imported from Taiwan to make its teas, with boba served warm. Customers are advised to stir the tea nine times before drinking for optimal enjoyment.

The Alley is anticipated to open as early as this summer at 5665 Balboa Avenue, Suite 104, in San Diego's Clairemont Mesa community. For more information, visit thealleyus.com.
