Charlie & Echo Natural Wines To Grand Open New San Diego Tasting Room

June 29, 2022

San Diego-based urban winery Charlie & Echo Natural Wines has set a July grand opening date for the company's Miramar tasting room.

Vinavanti Urban Winery was first established in San Marcos in 2007 by owner/winemaker Eric Van Drunen before moving its operations to Sorrento Valley, then Hillcrest in late 2015. In 2017, Van Drunen rebranded the winery to become Charlie & Echo. The company specializes in the natural preparation of wine, including un-oaked vinification with minimal processing and a natural fermentation without filtering, using only grapes grown in San Diego County.

Charlie & Echo's new tasting room soft-opened in 2021, but finishing touches were delayed due to Covid-related pressures. Located in the Miralani Makers' District, craft beverage neighbors include Protector Brewing, Setting Sun Sake, Lost Cause Meadery, Serpentine Cider, Wolf Larsen's Alehouse, and Preston's Ginger Beer. The space features an L-shaped cedar and pine tasting bar, custom table seating, and a dog-friendly patio. Large-format label art created by San Diego designer Tyler Cristobal is showcased, and a bold mural from local artists Brian Scanlon and Kay Feely fills the back wall.

Charlie & Echo produces natural wines onsite from grapes grown organically in San Diego County. Guests can enjoy their vintages by the glass, taster, YOLO flight, or bottle. In addition to natural wines, three wine cocktails are on tap - a spritzer, slushie, and the winery's latest Project X experimental beverage. Artisanal snacks are available along with frequent food pop-ups, and outside food is welcome.

The Grand Opening of Charlie & Echo's new tasting room takes place on Sunday, July 10, from 1 to 6pm at 8680 Miralani Drive, Suite #125, in San Diego's Miramar neighborhood. For more information, visit charlieandecho.com.
