La Divina Restaurant To Bring Upscale Mexican Seafood To San Diego's Barrio Logan

June 6, 2022

The family behind Tacos El Paisa have taken over the space that last housed Mariscos El Pulpo in San Diego's Barrio Logan and will soon open La Divina, an upscale Mexican seafood restaurant and bar.

In 1999, the De Santiago family opened their first Tacos El Paisa taqueria on the corner of 47th & Logan Avenue in San Diego's Lincoln Park neighborhood. Since then, members of the family have opened several other El Paisa locations around San Diego County.

Brother and sister Guillermo & Jacqueline De Santiago have taken over the sprawling space previously occupied by Mariscos El Pulpo within Mercado Del Barrio in Barrio Logan for the opening of a new fine dining concept dubbed La Divina. Spanish for "the divine female", La Divina will pay homage to women with decorations highlighting influential females and the female form. The 240 seat restaurants will have a menu centered around Mexican seafood, specifically Mazatlan-style seafood dishes with tropical flavors like shrimp aguachile, Sinaloan-style ceviche, seafood tostadas, pescado zarandeado grilled fish, and even Mexican-style sushi dishes. There will also be a full bar and a back bar area for sports watching, including international soccer games and boxing matches.

La Divina is anticipated to open in early July at 1900 Main Street, Suite 101, in San Diego's historic Barrio Logan community.
