San Diego Birria Specialist Mike's Red Tacos Opens First Brick-And-Mortar Restaurant

Known for its Saturday food truck pop-up, San Diego birria specialist Mike’s Red Tacos has opened its first brick and mortar restaurant.

Launched as a food truck in June 2021, Mike's Red Tacos quickly became a weekend destination for its Saturday food truck pop-up on Morena Boulevard in San Diego's Bay Park community. The brand is the product of Michael Touma, who decided to take his obsession with slow-cooked beef birria to the next level with the opening of his eatery.

Touma has recently unveiled his first brick-and-mortar eatery in San Diego's Clairemont community, taking over the space last occupied by Wings Republic within Liberty Park Plaza. Mike's Red Tacos will continue to serve beef birria tacos with consomé broth for dipping, plus birria ramen noodle soup, mulitas, and his signature Taco Bell-inspired birria Crunchstack. New menu items like burritos, smothered fries, nachos, and quesadillas have also been added to the menu.

Mike's Red Tacos is now open daily from 11am to 10pm at 4310 Genesee Ave, Suite 104, in San Diego's Clairmont community. For more information, visit mikesredtacos.com.
