Online crowdsourced-reviews aggregator Yelp has published a list of the Top 100 Brunch Spots in California for 2022 and 19 San Diego restaurants were featured.
For its first-ever list of the top 100 brunch spots in California list, Yelp identified businesses in the restaurants category, then ranked those places using a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews between January 1, 2017, and July 27, 2022. Of San Diego's 19 inclusions, Point Loma's Italian cuisines hotspot Cesarina ranked the best, coming in at the #5 spot. But Newport Beach's location of Great Maple, which currently has 2 branches in San Diego places second in the list. Great Maple was founded by San Diego's own Johnny Rivera and his wife Renee back in 2013. The company will close its branch at Westfield UTC mall by year's end, but the Hillcrest branch will remain operational.
The other San Diego County restaurants included on Yelp's top brunch spots list are Sugar and Scribe in La Jolla (22), Werewolf in the Gaslamp Quarter (23), Old Town Tequila Factory in Old Town (28), Cove House in La Jolla (33), Local Tap House & Kitchen in Oceanside (34), Cocina de Barrio in Hillcrest (35), The Hills Pub in La Mesa (38), Shorehouse Kitchen in Carlsbad (53), Beach Plum Kitchen in Carlsbad (55), Farmer’s Table in Bay Park (56), Kindred in South Park (58), Common Stock in Hillcrest (63), Dunedin New Zealand Eats in North Park (69), The Cottage in La Jolla (74), Half Door Brewing in East Village (79), Trust in Hillcrest (80), Queenstown Public House in Little Italy (90), and Parc Bistro-Brasserie in Bankers Hill (96). Newport Beach's Shorebird restaurant, which is in the process of opening a branch in San Diego's Seaport Village, also made the list at the #39 spot. San Francisco’s Lapisara Eatery took home top honors appearing in the #1 spot on the list.
