Captain's Quarters Sets Sail In San Diego's Pacific Beach

January 29, 2023

The hospitality company behind San Diego hotspots The Grass Skirt, Firehouse, Kettner Exchange and Camino Riviera is ready to unveil its newest bar & restaurant. The nautical-themed Captain's Quarters will grand open this week in Pacific Beach.

Matt Spencer's SDCM restaurant group is behind San Diego dining and bar concepts Kettner Exchange, Devil's Dozen Donuts, Firehouse, The Grass Skirt, Good Time Poke, Waverly Restaurant & Lounge, Vin De Syrah, and Camino Riviera. Last year, Spencer took over the nearly 1,500 square-foot space to the right of his Good Time Poke eatery to open a new gin bar and nautical-themed bar and restaurant named Captain's Quarters.

Meant to be a sister concept to compliment the tropical tiki-theme of neighboring The Grass Skirt, Captain's Quarters will be accessed through a new entrance within Good Time Poke. Inspired by a literal captain's quarters of 17th-century ships, Davis Ink design firm has transformed the unit to transport guests to a luxurious and moody adventure on the high seas. From the bar, beverage director Eric Johnson has developed a cocktail list devoted to gin cocktails, as well as many other options. The kitchen will turn out an approachable menu of shareable dishes from corporate executive chef Brian Redzikowski. Expect plates like grilled prawns with harissa, feta, cucumbers, dill, parsley and garlic; smoked salmon poppers with caviar, mascarpone mousse, dill, shallots and garlic; and beef Rioja with potato puree, parsley, pickled pearl red onion, and garlic.

Captain's Quarters will grand open on Wednesday, February 1 at 910 Grand Avenue, Suite 105, in San Diego's Pacific Beach. For more information and reservations, visit thegrassskirt.com/captainsquarters and check out the menu below.
