Downtown San Diego's Hotel Solamar is currently undergoing a $31 million renovation to transform into California's first urban location of Margaritaville Resort, which is set to open this summer.

Pebblebrook Hotel Trust and Margaritaville Enterprises acquired Hotel Solamar San Diego from Kimpton Hotels in 2018 and have since assisted with the transition along with the resort's current management company Davidson Hotels & Resorts. Davidson Hotels & Resorts will continue to operate the property as Hotel Solamar throughout the renovation and rebranding program. Hotel Solamar will remain fully operational as the renovation continues to move in stages. As of now, the 10th-floor guestrooms, meeting rooms, and 4th-floor rooftop are being worked on.

Since 1977, Margaritaville has been a global lifestyle brand inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of singer, songwriter and best-selling author Jimmy Buffett, whose songs evoke a passion for tropical escape and relaxation. Margaritaville features 23 lodging locations with more than 20 additional projects in the pipeline, two gaming properties and over 60 food and beverage venues including signature concepts such as Margaritaville Restaurant, award-winning JWB Prime Steak and Seafood, 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill and LandShark Bar & Grill.
