Korea's Famed Jaws Topokki Street Food Eatery Opening San Diego Location

March 13, 2023

With over 400 locations around the globe, the first area branch of internationally-recognized South Korean street food chain Jaws TPK will soon open in San Diego.

Founded in South Korea in 2008 as Jaws Food, Jaws TPK now has over 420 outlets in South Korea and Vietnam, with the only two U.S. branches sited in The Source Mall in Orange County and Los Angeles's Koreatown. The chain offers a menu of Korean street food, including gimbap Korean sushi and their famous topokki (commonly known as tteokbokki), a popular food in Korea that is prepared with stir-fried rice cakes cooked in sweet and spicy sauces with a variety of vegetables.

The first San Diego location of Jaws TPK will open within H Mart's Food Hall on Balboa in Kearny Mesa. The branch is the product of franchisee Kevin Bang, who also operates three area outposts of Korean fried chicken chain Bonchon and operates a location of Cheese Garden Japanese cheesecake bakery in Carmel Valley. In addition to varieties of tteokbokki and gimbap, the eatery will also serve fried cheeseballs, soondae Korean sausage, and a selection of slushie drinks made with a traditional sweet rice beverage known as sikhye.

Jaws Topokki is anticipated to open soon within H Mart at 7725 Balboa Avenue in San Diego's Kearny Mesa. For more information, visit jawstpk.com.
