With 20 locations currently sited around Southern California, Panini Kabob Grill will launch its fourth San Diego outpost later this month in the space last occupied by Great Maple within Westfield UTC Mall.
First founded as Panini Cafe in 1997 by current CEO Mike Rafipoor, Panini Kabob Grill is a health-focused casual chain that now has 20 locations around Southern California, including branches in San Diego's Mission Valley, Carlsbad and Del Mar. The concept is based around an all-day Italian-Mediterranean fusion menu centered around a devotion to fresh ingredients that combines old world and Middle Eastern styles.
Panini Kabob Grill will soon install within the 5,000 square-foot space that housed a branch of Great Maple modern diner from 2017 until the restaurant closed in late 2022. The new full-service PKG will offer expansive breakfast, lunch and dinner options. At Panini Kabob Grill, start your day with eggs, omelettes, breakfast sandwiches or French toast accompanied by a list of coffee and espresso drinks. For lunch and dinner, indulge in a grilled Panini sandwich, wrap, or a kabob, made to order with choice of grilled chicken, filet, lamb, shrimp or salmon skewered with tomatoes and peppers. The restaurant also offers pasta dishes, vegetarian entrees, salads, soups and an extensive Mediterranean appetizer menu, as well as beer and wine options.
Panini Kabob Grill hopes to open on April 28 at 8675 Genesee Avenue, Suite 1200, in the University City area of San Diego's La Jolla. For more information, visit paninikabobgrill.com.
